Artwork
Every release needs one piece of artwork to accompany the delivery.
There are several considerations for digital artwork. Most importantly, it must be high quality.
The Basics
Artwork must be in .JPG format.
4096 x 4096 pixels is strongly recommended, but if you can't, the minimum accepted size is 3000 x 3000 pixels.
RGB color spacing (not CMYK).
Considerations
Your artwork will be viewed in various sizes, from a small thumbnail on a phone to a large image on a flat-screen TV or projector; you should cater to this. Artwork should be clear and well laid out, and text should be easily readable.
Please keep it simple by including your artist name and release title.
Don't include any information on your artwork that is not included in the metadata, and ensure the release title matches the title on the data exactly.
Avoid including any websites or references to the format '7" Single,' for example. Don't refer to any digital service or include any of their logos or branding.
Quality
Ensure your image isn't pixelated or blurry and your text hasn't been cropped. Nazi symbology is a big no, and so is pornographic imagery.
Artwork image content rules
Reminder: Cover artworks are mandatory. Deliver the original artwork whenever possible.
Artwork image content rules include but are not limited to:
Third parties IP. Displaying a third party’s intellectual property on the artwork is not accepted in any store. Do not display famous characters, pieces of art, logos, trademarks, industrial designs, etc. without prior authorization from their owner. We may tolerate the representation of an artist as a character in a movie, TV show, or cartoon due to artistic choices. Note that any parody or misuse of third parties IP may be rejected despite artistic choice.
Pornographic content. Artworks displaying pornographic content are not accepted.
Nazi propaganda. Artworks depicting Nazi symbolism are not accepted.
Terrorism. Artworks displaying terrorist content or promoting terrorist activities are not accepted.
Cultural sensitivities. (According to store policies and territorial legislation) May be rejected: artworks displaying shocking images or graphic content; artworks promoting or displaying any form of children's safety issues, harassment, extreme violence, xenophobic content, or any other discriminatory content; artworks containing images of nudity (even with the Explicit Content Logo), drug references, or depictions of drugs.
Generic templates. Artworks using generic templates are not accepted. Artworks using the same image while changing the color palette are considered generic templates and are not accepted either.
Allot Lines will have complete freedom to adapt its artwork guidelines regarding delivery to sensitive territories, at its sole discretion, from time to time.
Artwork information rules
Reminder: Cover artworks are mandatory. Deliver the original artwork whenever possible.
Artwork/Metadata Mismatch. Information displayed on the artwork should match exactly the release’s metadata (i.e., artist’s name, release titles, etc.). Note that displaying information in an alphabet/language that is different from the metadata’s but matches it in meaning is considered a mismatch.
Misuse of the Parental Advisory/Explicit Content Logo. Don’t use the Parental Advisory/Explicit Content logo on the artwork unless one of the tracks is marked as explicit. Note that the "Restricted logo" is solely used for R-rated movies, not music.
DMS names and logos. We do not accept artworks that contain Digital Music Store names or logos. Do not display DMS names or logos even if the release will be distributed on these stores.
Misleading artworks/missing content. We do not accept artworks that reference information or content (e.g., "video included") that is not part of the release. Do not display information that may mislead a customer in any way on the artwork.
References to physical or digital products. Artworks containing references to physical support or digital products (i.e., “CD”, “Cassette”, "mp3", etc.) are not accepted.
Information limited in time. Artworks containing terms and notions that can be true only for a certain period (i.e., “New”, “Latest”, “Coming Soon”, etc.) are not accepted.
Pricing tags/barcodes. Artworks containing prices in any currency or barcodes (even for design purposes) are not accepted.
Rights limitation. Artworks that forbid or limit distribution rights in any way are not accepted (i.e., phrases like “All rights reserved). No part of this publication may be reproduced, distributed, or transmitted in any form or by any means”).
Up-selling/Advertising. Artworks that up-sell or advertise another product are not accepted.
Contact information. Artworks containing contact information of any sort (phone numbers, e-mail, etc.) or web links are not accepted.
