What is Content ID?

Allot Lines Customer Support

Last Update 4 months ago

Content ID is YouTube’s fingerprinting system that allows copyright owners to monitor their works in YouTube’s user-generated videos, and monetize those uses. When we deliver your music to Content ID, a unique fingerprint is created for your audio. YouTube then uses this fingerprint to locate your audio in User Generated Content (UGC) across YouTube. When there’s a match, a copyright claim will be placed on the YouTube video, which, in most instances, will display in the description of the YouTube video.

Note: We can only monetize recordings on Content ID that we have delivered. Music you’ve delivered through another distributor will not be monetized on YouTube by Allot Lines.

Content ID claims through Allot Lines allow us to monetize the use of your audio in UGC on your behalf and our claims do not generally result in video takedowns or blocks (though you should verify your Allot Lines agreement's policies).

We have determined that YouTube Content ID and the same tools like SoundCloud Content ID and Facebook Rights Manager will be limited due to the increase in copyright infringement cases or policy.

I leased my beat - can I still use Content ID?

No. You can only enable Content ID for music where you control all rights exclusively (a lease only grants you permission to use the beat / you are not the sole owner).
