Creating a New Royalty Split

Allot Lines Customer Support

Last Update hace un mes

Creating a split consists of four steps:
1. Scope & Track → 2. Collaborators → 3. Review → 4. Done

Step 1: Select the scope and contentFirst, choose which music the agreement should apply to.

Per-track

Creates a split agreement for one specific track.

Use this when collaborators or percentages differ from track to track.
Example:
Artist — 60%
Producer — 25%
Songwriter — 15%

Per-release

Creates one agreement covering the selected release.

This is useful when the same participants and percentages apply across the release.
Select the release by searching using information such as its:
  • Release title
  • UPC

Multi-track

Creates one agreement covering multiple selected tracks.

Use Multi-track when the same revenue-sharing arrangement should apply to several tracks without applying it to an entire release.
A minimum of two tracks must be selected for a Multi-track split.

You can search for tracks using information such as:
  • Track title
  • ISRC

After selecting the applicable music, select Continue.

Step 2: Add Collaborators

Add everyone who should participate in the revenue split.
Enter the collaborator's email address and select Add collaborator.
For every participant, you can define:
  • Name or account
  • Role
  • Share percentage
  • KYC status
  • Payout arrangement

Supported roles displayed by the system include:

  • Main artist
  • Featured artist
  • Producer
  • Songwriter
  • Mix engineer
  • Master engineer
  • Session player
  • Label
Choose the role that most accurately represents the participant's involvement.

Share percentages

All participant percentages must total exactly:
100%
The allocation indicator will show whether your agreement is balanced.
For example:
ParticipantRoleShare
Main ArtistMain artist60%
ProducerProducer25%
TotalSongwriter100%
TotalSongwriter100%

You cannot complete the agreement with an allocation below or above 100%.

Collaborator verification and KYC

Royalty Splits may display the verification status of each participant.
For example:
Verified — the participant has completed the required verification.
Pending KYC — additional identity verification may still be required.
Collaborators who are invited to Allot Lines may need to complete the required account, identity, or payout verification before certain financial functions become available.

Auto-payout

When Auto-payout is enabled, each collaborator's allocated share can be transferred automatically when an applicable payment run is processed.
This means you do not need to:
  • Calculate each collaborator's royalties manually.
  • Withdraw the full amount yourself and redistribute it.
  • Maintain separate royalty calculations outside Allot Lines.
The split agreement determines how eligible revenue associated with the selected content is allocated.
Turning on Auto-payout does not bypass account verification, payment requirements, or other applicable payout conditions.

Step 3: Review the Agreement

Before submitting the split, carefully review the information shown under Review & Agreement.
The Split Summary can include:
  • Scope
  • Selected tracks or release
  • Effective date
  • Agreement term
  • Payout method
  • Total allocated percentage
You will also see the Share Breakdown showing each participant and their percentage.

Contract Preview

Allot Lines generates a Revenue Split Agreement based on the information you entered.
Review the agreement carefully before proceeding.
You must confirm that you have the authority to create the agreement on behalf of the applicable parties and that the information provided is accurate.
Do not create a Royalty Split for rights or revenue that you are not authorized to control.

Electronic signatures

After reviewing the agreement, submit it for signatures.
Participants will receive an invitation to review and electronically sign the split agreement.
A split may remain in a pending state until the required participants have signed.
Royalty allocations and payouts associated with the split should not be considered finalized until the required agreement process has been completed.
You can use Send Reminders from the split page when a participant has not yet completed their signature.

Split statuses

Your splits can appear under different statuses.
Draft

The agreement is still being prepared and has not yet completed the signature process.

Drafts can be reviewed or edited before submission.

Pending

The agreement is waiting for one or more required actions, such as collaborator signatures.

Active

The agreement has completed the required activation process and can be applied to eligible revenue associated with its scope.

The Royalty Splits dashboard allows you to filter between:
  • All splits
  • Active
  • Pending
  • Drafts

Managing an Existing Split

Open:
Royalty Splits → My Splits

Select Open next to the applicable agreement.

The split details page provides several management tools.

Overview

The Overview tab displays:

  • Split breakdown
  • Each participant's percentage
  • Participant status
  • Earnings
  • Agreement type
  • Scope
  • Effective date
  • Term
  • Auto-payout status
  • Creation date

Collaborators

The Collaborators tab shows everyone included in the agreement.

You can review:
  • Collaborator
  • Email
  • Role
  • Verification status
  • Share percentage
  • Signature status

Depending on the agreement status, participant information may also be editable.

Payout History

The Payout History tab displays financial activity associated with the split once applicable revenue and payouts become available.

If the split has not generated any processed earnings yet, the page will display:
No payout history available.

My Splits

The My Splits section contains every split you have:
  • Created
  • Signed
  • Saved as a draft
  • Participated in
You can search by split type or scope and filter agreements according to their status.

Information displayed may include:
  • Split
  • Type
  • Collaborators
  • Your share
  • Status
  • Available actions
This section is useful when managing multiple releases or a larger catalogue.

Collaborators

Open:
Royalty Splits → Collaborators
This section provides an overview of people with whom you share royalties.

Once you have active or relevant split relationships, you can use this area to see collaborators and the agreements you have in common.

A collaborator is normally added through a Royalty Split rather than created independently.

Invitations

Open:
Royalty Splits → Invitations
The Invitations section manages split agreements requiring signatures.
It contains three categories:
Received

Agreements another user has invited you to review or sign.

Sent

Agreements you have sent to collaborators.

Archived

Previous invitations that have been archived.

Splits requiring signatures will not complete their agreement workflow until the necessary participants have signed.

You can also use Send Invitation to initiate the applicable invitation workflow.

Royalty Split Templates

If you regularly work with the same team or use the same percentage structure, Templates can significantly reduce setup time.
Open:
Royalty Splits → Templates
Select New template.
You can define:
  • Template name
  • Optional description
  • Split type
  • Collaborators
  • Roles
  • Share percentages

Example template:

Artist + Producer 70/30
Main Artist — 70%
Producer — 30%

The template can then be reused when creating future split arrangements instead of rebuilding the participant structure each time.

Templates are particularly useful for:

  • Record labels
  • Artist-producer partnerships
  • Production teams
  • Songwriting teams
  • Recurring collaborators

Payout History

Open:
Royalty Splits → Payout History
This page provides a consolidated view of payouts connected with your splits.

The summary includes:

Total Received

Split earnings credited to you.

Distributed

Amounts paid to your collaborators.

Net

The difference between amounts received and distributed.

You can filter the data by time period and transaction type, including:
  • All
  • Received
  • Distributed
  • Held
Payout information will appear after applicable split earnings have been processed.

Master + Publishing Splits

Where available, a split can identify the relevant revenue rights covered by the agreement, such as Master + Publishing.

Master recording rights and publishing/composition rights are legally distinct.

Only include publishing rights in an agreement when the parties involved actually control or are authorized to administer those rights.

Creating a split inside Allot Lines does not transfer ownership of rights that a participant does not legally own or control.
