The digital music services have processes in place for locating releases containing infringing content. They also allow third parties to submit copyright claims for content on the service. We take the issue of copyright infringement seriously and it’s extremely important that you ensure you have the exclusive rights to distribute any music you upload before uploading. This includes obtaining permissions for samples, licensing a cover song, and confirming your right to remix
If an infringement claim is filed at one of the digital services, they will get in touch with us to notify us of the potential infringement.
Note: Each service has their own policies in place when they receive infringement claims. Some services will issue an immediate takedown of the release in question while the claim is being resolved. Others will provide a few days to resolve the claim before they too will issue a takedown for your release.
What happens if a claim is filed against one of my releases?
When we are notified of the claim we will get in touch with you to share details of the release, the digital service the claim was placed with, as well as the contact information of the claimant.
If you believe you have the rights to distribute the release, you must get in touch with the claimant to resolve the issue and have the claim rescinded. We are unable to get involved in any legal disputes or carry out these conversations for you.
If you do not have the rights to distribute the release, we will issue a takedown for the release to all services and we will require more information as to the reasoning for the initial upload of the release. Your account may be placed under review and pending our review, your agreement may need to be terminated.
We must respond to these types of conflicts in a timely fashion. Once we notify you of a copyright claim, we’ll need you to get back to us within96hrs of us raising the issue. Otherwise, we will issue a takedown for the release in question and your account will be placed under review. During the review period, your account will be placed on hold for pending and future release uploads
